Emeritus CEcD Status
IEDC provides lifetime recognition to Certified Economic Developers (CEcDs) who have entered retirement, but do not want to lose their ties to IEDC or the profession. This program gives back to those practitioners who have made a significant contribution to the field.
The CEcD Emeritus status permits the certified individual to continue using the CEcD designation without having to submit further recertification information.
The CEcD Emeritus status is only applicable to retired economic developers who had an active CEcD designation at the time of retirement. Retirement refers to legal retirement, and is not applicable to practitioners who are entering a phase between positions, changing professions or entering into consultancy.
To qualify for the CEcD Emeritus status, the retired CEcD must have either 20 years of experience in economic development or have been certified for 10 or more years. The individual must complete the CEcD Emeritus Status Application Form and submit his or her resume. There is a one-time fee of $125 for lifetime CEcD recognition under the Emeritus Status. CEcDs who are Honorary Lifetime Members (HLM) are not required to pay the Emeritus fee. Payment must accompany the application.
