“ED Talks,” a play on the popular TED Talks series, is a new session format that debuted at IEDC’s 2017 Annual Conference in Toronto. Organized by Development Counsellors International, ED Talks featured four economic developers offering diverse perspective on their work and (sometimes very personal) experiences in the profession. Videos are available on IEDC’s YouTube page, and are linked below.

How in the World Did I Become an Economic Developer? From Taco Vendor to Negotiating with Elon Musk – Gilberto Salinas, interim executive director, Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation, Brownsville, Texas

Find the Doers: Expanding Workforce Capacity Through Coalition – Ashley Cangelosi Llewellyn, development director, St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation, Mandeville, La.

If Vancouver is an “Island of Green,” Then We Are in Big Trouble – Bryan Buggey, director of business development, Vancouver Economic Commission

Winning the War Against Economic Development and Incentives – Christopher Lloyd, sr. VP & director of infrastructure & economic development, McGuireWoods Consulting, Richmond, VA

If you enjoyed these presentations, you’ll be happy to know ED Talks will return for the 2018 Annual Conference in Atlanta!
