Give yourself adequate time to prepare for the exam and increase your chances of passing and ultimately, joining the fold of certified professionals.

Being certified by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is the highest form of credibility and competency in the economic development profession. Earning the CEcD designation has opened a world of possibilities for hundreds of professionals. You can take advantage of the opportunity to advance your career, community and the profession, too by completing the required coursework in order to sit for the exam.

This workshop provides candidates with a complete overview of the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) exam process, from application to the oral examination. They will learn tools and techniques for preparing for the exam and witness a mock oral interview.

First-time candidates applying to sit for an exam taking place after December 31, 2014 must participate in a "Preparing for the CEcD Exam Workshop," either in-person or via webinar.

Why the CEcD?

The roles of economic developers are quite diverse. However, each has one common objective: to stimulate the creation, retention and expansion of jobs; the development of a stable tax base, and ultimately the enhancement of wealth, creating a higher quality of life for all. You're already an experienced economic developer, wearing many hats, and working on multiple, complex problems every day. Put your skills to the test and add the CEcD pin to your lapel.

Download answers to frequently asked questions about the program and what’s required to sit for an upcoming exam, and encourage your team to consider adding the CEcD designation behind their names, too.

At a minimum, we offer a CEcD exam in conjunction with each of our four (4) conferences every year. In addition, we sometimes offer a fifth exam in the 4th quarter. Here are open CEcD Exam dates - be among this round of test takers.
