Tourism offers great opportunities to sell your community, bring customers to your businesses, and even attract the attention of investors. How are you telling the world about your tourism offerings? What investments in tourism marketing yield the best results? Our discussion will offer the latest in tourism marketing techniques while examining recent successful campaigns.

Sandy Sponaugle is a Marketing and PR consultant for economic development and tourism-based organizations looking to upscale their results and empower their multi-generational staff with cutting-edge social media, internet marketing, and traditional media strategies.

Sandy is the CEO/Founder of Platinum PR, an economic development marketing and public relations firm supporting economic development professionals across the east coast. Founded in 2002, Platinum PR creates & implements customized communications plans to help communities grow and diversify their economies and job opportunities for residents.

Sandy is a graduate of Shepherd University with a Bachelor of Science in economics and business administration. She started her career as a Research Specialist at the Jefferson County Development Authority in Charles Town, WV and most recently as a Business Development Specialist in the Frederick County Office of Economic Development in Frederick, MD.

Sandy is an active member of industry organizations such as the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) and the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and has instructed the “Marketing & Business Attraction” course as part of the Chesapeake Basic Economic Development Course for the past six years. She is an active member of community organizations such as the Shepherdstown Rotary, and leadership programs such as Leadership Maryland. She has received rewards such as the PR Professional of the Year by The American Advertising Federation – Greater Frederick.

Instructions and dial-in information will be sent up to three days in advance and a minimum of two times. If you do not receive an email from IEDC or GoToWebinar 24 hours prior to the start of the web seminar, it is your responsibility to email webinar@iedconline.org. No refunds or credits will be given for not receiving the dial-in information for the webinar.

Cancellation, Refund and No-Show Policy

• Refunds are available with cancellation until Monday, May 6. There are no refunds for cancellations received after Monday, May 6.

• All cancellations must be received in writing by email, fax or mail to Cherrika Gordon (e-mail: cgordon@iedconline.org / fax (202) 223-4745). Cancellations by phone are not accepted.

• All cancellations and requests for a refund after Monday, May 6 need to be submitted in writing to Cherrika Gordon and will be considered on a case by case basis. There is no guarantee of a refund or credit after Monday, May 6 and each will be given consideration under unforeseen circumstances.

 

Attend Web Seminars and Earn Recertification Credits from the Comfort of Your Office

We understand that CEcDs have a constant yearning to grow and improve their knowledge and expertise in economic development. Therefore, the IEDC web seminars have been approved as professional development programs for recertification. The web seminars provide a convenient and cost-effective online environment for economic developers to learn about cutting-edge research, techniques, and tools that are prevalent in the field.

CEcDs participating in a minimum of three (3) web seminars during a three-year recertification cycle can now earn recertification credits. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact certification@iedconline.org.
