Our conversation will focus on workforce strategies that specifically target marginalized populations in our communities and how to connect them with new opportunities.

 

 

Speakers

Peter A. Creticos
President & Executive Director
Institute for Work & the Economy
Chicago, IL

Prior to establishing the Institute in 2000, Mr. Creticos served as the Vice President for the Midwest Regional Office in Chicago, Illinois, of the National Alliance of Business. Previously he served as Assistant to the President at the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce and President of the for-profit subsidiary, Center for Business Management. He also served as lead staff on economic and workforce development for the Illinois State Senate President, as an independent consultant and researcher on economic and workforce development issues, and as a Field Representative at the Council of State Governments.

Mr. Creticos is currently a member of the Economic Development committee for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP). He served for 10 years as a board member of the Chicago Workforce Investment Board, the Service Delivery Committee, and the Workforce Investment Act Performance Review Subcommittee. He was a member of the advisory board to Enlace, the community development organization for the Mexican immigrant Little Village neighborhood in Chicago. He also served on the board of the Pilsen-Little Village Community Management Organization, an affiliate of the Pilsen-Little Village Community Mental Health Center, Inc.

Mr. Creticos earned his Ph.D. at the Graduate School at Northwestern University.


Anita Davis
Workforce Development Program Director

Anita Davis has over 15 years’ experience leading community, economic, and workforce development initiatives designed to improve regional economies and the lives of low-moderate income families. Her experience includes affordable housing development and neighborhood revitalization projects, business attraction and retention through the use of economic development incentives, and the development of sustainable talent pipelines for in demand industries and occupations through a variety of workforce development strategies. Currently, Ms. Davis serves as the Workforce Development Program Director for the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), an independent regional planning agency for the 9 surrounding counties in Missouri and Kansas. In this role Ms. Davis leads regional initiatives related to improving policies and systems that support adult learners, increasing post-secondary attainment, economic inclusion and mobility, and workforce development.

No refunds or credits will be given for not receiving the dial-in information for the webinar.

Cancellation, Refund and No-Show Policy

• Refunds are available with cancellation until Monday, September 9. There are no refunds for cancellations received after Monday, September 9.

• All cancellations must be received in writing by email, fax or mail to Cherrika Gordon (e-mail: cgordon@iedconline.org / fax (202) 223-4745). Cancellations by phone are not accepted.

• All cancellations and requests for a refund after Monday, September 9 need to be submitted in writing to Cherrika Gordon and will be considered on a case by case basis. There is no guarantee of a refund or credit after Monday, September 9 and each will be given consideration under unforeseen circumstances.

 

Attend Web Seminars and Earn Recertification Credits from the Comfort of Your Office

We understand that CEcDs have a constant yearning to grow and improve their knowledge and expertise in economic development. Therefore, the IEDC web seminars have been approved as professional development programs for recertification. The web seminars provide a convenient and cost-effective online environment for economic developers to learn about cutting-edge research, techniques, and tools that are prevalent in the field.

CEcDs participating in a minimum of three (3) web seminars during a three-year recertification cycle can now earn recertification credits. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact certification@iedconline.org.
