This course focuses on building an understanding of the importance of building a community centered around entrepreneurship and small business creation, sustainability and growth. After taking this course, course participants will be able to identify their role in the ecosystem, understand the roles of others and come away with the skills to bring organizations together around shared goals. Learn important skills such as assessing a community's appetite for risk, identifying resource gaps, understanding the importance of inclusion, and developing practical ways to measure success.

Your facilitator will utilize peer-learning methods including breakout rooms and inquiry-based assignments throughout the course, culminating in an actionable ELED plan.

Intro to Entrepreneurship-led Economic Development
The course begins with an introduction to entrepreneurship-led economic development (ELED) and why it’s critical to economic development.

11:45 - 12:15 pm

Breakout group – Exercise 1
Using the Communities Life Cycle Matrix, attendees will determine which stage best describes their community with regard to entrepreneurship-led economic development.

Then we’ll examine the entrepreneurial ecosystem, explore roles and relationships within it and discuss who ecosystem builders and champions are in your region.
