In this course, taught by some of the economic development profession’s most experienced leaders, you will learn the key practices of leading and managing an economic development nonprofit, jurisdictional or regional organization. Through instructor led discussions, you will analyze solutions to real challenges with media relations, working with consultants, and hiring and retaining talent, among other key aspects of running a complex organization.

Economic Development Marketing and Attraction

Nov. 7-8, 2019 | Toronto, ON

This two-day, hands-on course teaches community branding, social media techniques, and the ability to create effective marketing content and campaigns. 

Through group work and discussion, you will learn to identify your target audiences inside and outside of your community, craft your community’s brand, and drive economic development using cutting-edge digital tools and platforms. You’ll also analyze numerous examples of effective website designs and be able to explain why they are effective. In addition, you will learn social media strategies and the “do’s and don’ts” of effective content. All of the elements of a marketing plan will be explained in an accessible, fundamental manner, concluding with an opportunity to build your skills preparing and pitching a marketing campaign.
