This Giving Tuesday, November 28, consider making a contribution to the Bollinger Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing scholarship grants to families who have lost a parent or guardian where the deceased or surviving parent worked or works in the field of public housing, community development, or economic development. Young Smart & Local (YSL), a groundbreaking national network dedicated to fostering diverse talent through attraction, inclusion, development, and retention, will host its third annual conference November 13–15 in New Orleans. This three-day event has become a valuable platform for leaders from various sectors to collaborate and share insights and best practices. IEDC has partnered with the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) for more than four years through IEDC’s economic recovery and resilience program. The CNMI’s tourism- and agriculture-focused economy is unique, vibrant, and dynamic. IEDC’s current work with the CNMI economic development community addresses dual recovery from the pandemic and natural disasters. To kick off this phase, a team of IEDC volunteers visited the islands to conduct a needs assessment.

EDA is now accepting applications for the FY23 STEM Talent Challenge. Applications are due June 12. The FY23 STEM Talent Challenge will award $4.5 million in grants to strengthen regional innovation economies by building a robust STEM workforce in high-growth sectors such as aerospace, aeronautics, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, and cybersecurity. Eligible applicants include EDOs, cities, counties, states, Tribal Nations, nonprofit organizations, public-private partnerships, institutions of higher education, federal laboratories, and science and research parks. Applicants should demonstrate how they will develop or expand regional STEM workforce capacity to support entrepreneurship, innovation, and industries of the future.

Registration is now open for the 42nd Annual Bollinger Open Golf Tournament which will be held on Friday, June 23 at The Courses at Andrews Air Force Base. The event raises funds for the Bollinger Foundation which provides financial support to families who have lost a parent or guardian where the deceased or surviving parent worked or works in the field of public housing, community development, or economic development. You can also become a tournament sponsor by completing a sponsorship commitment form. The Bollinger Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2023 grants.
