The Arizona Sustainable Economic Development Learning Lab equips economic development professionals with the tools to integrate and advance sustainable strategies in their work. This program will empower Arizona’s community leaders to create innovative solutions and catalyze investment to address future climate conditions - promoting lasting economic resiliency for their communities.
 
Through expert-led modules—delivered both in-person and virtually—you’ll learn to:
  • Develop core principles of sustainable economic development
  • Communicate sustainable economic development practices effectively to stakeholders
  • Develop workforce strategies for a stronger and future-ready economy
  • Identify and leverage funding for new sustainable initiatives

  • April 17 (Full-Day, In-Person – Phoenix) – Kickoff & Modules 1–3
    • Module 1: Intro to Sustainable Economic Development: Understanding climate risks and opportunities
    • Module 2: Key Elements of Sustainable Economic Development: Tools, frameworks, and funding sources
    • Module 3: Sustainable Economic Development Communications: Building support for action across a range of audiences
  • May 8 – Virtual Session; 1–3 p.m. MT
    • Module 4: Sustainable Development for People: Workforce and community development principles
  • June 5 – Virtual Session; 11 a.m.–1 p.m. MT
    • Module 5: Leveraging Resources to Advance Projects: Federal, state, and local programs, and public-private partnerships
  • July–August Capstone Project Work / Virtual Support from Project Team
  • September 11 – Virtual Session: 11 a.m.–1 p.m. MT
    • Module 6: Making it Count: Evaluation and planning for sustainable development
  • October 14 (Full-Day In-Person – Phoenix) – Capstone Presentations & Graduation
