Planning key to effective hurricane recovery as disasters become more frequent

IEDC recently held a webinar titled “Tale from the Trenches: Hurricane Recovery.” The webinar featured two economic developers whose communities have been impacted by hurricanes in recent years. The discussion covered hurricane preparedness for economic developers in vulnerable communities, how EDOs can support businesses post-disaster, and a timeline of the recovery process. EDOs serving communities vulnerable to hurricanes must plan to quickly disburse loans to local businesses post-disaster, said Chuck Wemple, executive director of the Houston-Galveston Area Council.
