How long have you worked in economic development?

30 years

How did you enter the economic development profession?

A college internship became a full-time position creating a thirst for all things Economic Development.

What is your favorite thing about working in economic development?

Diversity in people, projects and challenges.

Tell us about the community or organization you represent.

Leavenworth County is America. We have roughly 80,000 residents living a variety of lifestyles...rural, urban, suburban. We embrace our main street and rural heritage while also seeking to expand and grow the commercial, industrial and retail future.

What makes your community a great place for business and people to thrive? If you don’t represent a community, how do you help economic development organizations succeed?

Honest, hard working residents who desire nothing but the best for the future of our community.

Tell us about your favorite place/thing to do in your community.

My favorite activity in the County is simply visiting with residents and business owners. Many have been here for decades and are full of history, knowledge and wisdom. This is a community where neighbors talk to neighbors...it's seemingly rare, but is entirely excellent.

If you had a message to those considering a career in economic development, what would it be and why should they enter the field?

ED is fast-paced, diverse, exciting and wildly enjoyable. You get to play a role in the future of a community.

Share your favorite quote or the best piece of advice that has helped to guide your professional development.

"It's easier to change policy, than it is to change people. Without buy-in and the will of the people, policy will fail."
