How long have you worked in economic development?

6 years.

How did you enter the economic development profession?

I chose economic development because I wanted to be part of an organization that positively impacts local life.

What is your favorite thing about working in economic development?

One aspect of my job that I really enjoy is helping small business succeed that in turn helps to provide opportunities for our residents to work.

Tell us about the community or organization you represent.

I get to work for the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation in Pflugerville, Texas. We have been in existence for about 22 years and have been able to bring bring businesses, jobs and capital investment to improve local infrastructure and the quality of life for our community.

What makes your community a great place for business and people to thrive?

In our community we get to know all of our businesses on a personal basis so that they can see we are invested in their success. In turn those businesses take an interest in local activities and work with other entities to positively impact the quality of life for our community.

Tell us about your favorite place/thing to do in your community.

Pflugerville is the Trail Capital of Texas with over 55 miles of trails. I love to walk those beautiful trails. We also have a pretty awesome water park that is in the center of our town.

If you had a message to those considering a career in economic development, what would it be and why should they enter the field?

An economic development career gives you an opportunity to bring jobs and other opportunities to the community to help make a difference in the residents quality of life.

What does economic development mean to you?

It means assisting in growing jobs, investment in infrastructure and creating a better quality of life for the community.
