IEDC's Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO) program recognizes organizational excellence in the areas of internal and external operations, structures, and procedures. This series profiles recently accredited AEDOs, putting some of economic development's highest-performing organizations in the spotlight. This edition: City of Miramar (Fla.) The Minnesota Economic Development Foundation is a private nonprofit corporation supporting economic development education, training, and outreach in Minnesota. Its initiatives are closely aligned with key partners such as IEDC and the Economic Development Association of Minnesota. The foundation has provided professional development scholarships to hundreds of economic developers in Minnesota and supported internships at dozens of Minnesota EDOs.

The Just Transition Fund—whose mission is to create opportunity for the communities hardest hit by the decline of coal—has launched the Coal Communities Get Ready! Challenge. Communities often have visionary ideas for growing and transforming their local economies but need support to apply for and manage the federal investment that can bring these ideas to scale. The Coal Communities Get Ready! Challenge will identify 8 to 10 organizations that are building readiness to apply for and manage federal funds. The event raises funds for the Bollinger Foundation which provides financial support to families who have lost a parent or guardian where the deceased or surviving parent worked or works in the field of public housing, community development, or economic development.
