The Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) and the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) have partnered to offer this certificate program, designed for professionals with less than 5 years of experience, to help them build a solid foundation in workforce development.

Chambers of commerce and economic development organizations are increasingly recognizing the link between talent development and business attraction and retention. Closing workforce and education gaps and building a system that ensures economic opportunity for everyone is critical.

The Certificate in Workforce Development Fundamentals program will consist of: 

• (6) virtual sessions held from 12:00-2:00pm ET on the following dates
  
  
  • April 3, 2025 - Overview & Foundations for Effective Talent Development
  • April 10, 2025 - Understanding the K-12 System
  • April 17, 2025 - Understanding the Postsecondary System
  • April 24, 2025 - Engaging Workforce Development Systems
  • May 1, 2025 - External Factors Influencing Talent
  • May 8, 2025 - Key Concepts in Talent Attraction
    
    
• (1) online exam at the conclusion of the program

Upon successful completion of the virtual sessions and online exam, each attendee will receive a digital certificate and social media badge from ACCE and IEDC to showcase their achievement with this program. ACCE will also offer (3) points towards the Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) program as well as maintenance. IEDC will provide (3) Level-I points towards Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) recertification requirements.

Registration

Please be aware that this program is only available to 60 attendees (30 via ACCE and 30 via IEDC).

Materials

A registrant will receive an email from IEDC 2-4 business days prior to when the program is scheduled to begin. The email will include materials, videoconferencing links, and further instructions to ensure the registrant is fully prepared.

Policies

Please read the following policies carefully prior to registering for the program.

Materials

The materials provided by IEDC are intended for use only by the registrant of the certificate program. A registrant should not share the certificate program materials with anyone else.

A registrant found in violation of this policy will be removed from the certificate program immediately and will not receive a refund for it.

Payment

A registrant will not receive the materials for the certificate program until IEDC receives the full amount owed for their registration.

Substitution

A registrant is not allowed to substitute a colleague in their place for this certificate program.

Cancellation

A registrant that needs to cancel their participation in the certificate program must send an email to [email protected] no later than March 28, 2025. IEDC will provide a refund minus a $130.00 cancellation fee. The refund will be returned to the original form of payment by IEDC within 5-7 weeks.

No Show

A registrant is considered a “No Show” if they fail to send a cancellation email and/or do not attend the certificate program. A “No Show” registrant will forfeit any monies paid to IEDC for the program.
