What if stalled rural economic development projects are not primarily capacity problems — but sequencing problems?
Join Sherrie Campbell for the next Research to Practice conversation, based on her IEDC Economic Development Journal article, as she explores how capable communities can become overwhelmed by fragmented systems, competing timelines, and resources introduced in the wrong order.
Drawing on field experience across rural Alabama, Sherrie will introduce the Rural Development Sequencing Framework, a six-stage approach designed to help practitioners strengthen alignment, readiness, relationships, and implementation.
The conversation will offer practical insights into how economic developers can recognize capacity overload, identify where promising initiatives are getting stuck, and better sequence relationships, funding, technical assistance, and action to turn existing capacity into meaningful progress.
Sherrie Campbell, Managing Partner & Strategy and Systems Architect, SRC Funding LLC, and Economic Recovery Corps Fellow
