The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) today announced that Tracye McDaniel has joined the organization to serve as Chief Growth and Strategy Advisor.
In this newly created role, McDaniel will lead IEDC’s growth and revenue strategy, collaborating with leadership on initiatives designed to expand member value and strengthen the organization’s position as the leading voice for economic development professionals worldwide.
An internationally recognized economic development leader, McDaniel brings decades of experience across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Her career includes statewide economic development leadership in Texas and New Jersey, founding one of the nation’s only fully private-sector-funded statewide economic development organizations, serving as Greater Houston Partnership’s EVP and COO, and most recently serving as President of TIP Strategies. McDaniel also previously served as Chair of the IEDC Board of Directors, providing her with a unique understanding of the organization’s mission, members, and long-term strategic priorities.

McDaniel will maintain a strategic advisor role with TIP Strategies, serving the company and its clients while taking on the IEDC role through an advisory engagement with McDaniel Strategy Ecosystems, LLC.
In related news, IEDC announced that Brian Namey has been promoted to Chief Public Affairs Officer. Namey joined IEDC as Vice President of Public Affairs in January 2026. He oversees marketing and communications as well as conferences, events, research, and awards programs, with a focus on strengthening IEDC’s brand visibility and engagement with members and key external stakeholders. He also leads the planning and execution of IEDC’s 100th anniversary celebration throughout this year.
Namey has more than 20 years of experience in public affairs, including marketing and communications, policy advocacy, and association leadership. Prior to joining IEDC, he served as Chief Public Affairs Officer at the National Association of Counties. He has held previous senior positions at the National Network to End Domestic Violence and a national political party organization.
These leadership announcements come at a significant moment. As IEDC celebrates its centennial year, it is focused on preparing the field for the future, expanding partnerships and developing resources to help economic developers and communities thrive. The executive team will enhance IEDC’s ability to serve the profession, increasing economic opportunity and prosperity across the globe.
