IEDC membership is organizationally based, so in order to become a member of IEDC the organization you work for must be a member organization of IEDC. The type of organization you work for determines the pricing and quantity of members, but additional members can be added. All of our membership categories are defined below. If you are a student, member-in-transition, a retired member or have any questions about membership, please contact our membership department.

Economic Development Research Program (EDRP)
For economic developers in search of providing their expertise in the field, as well as interest in increasing knowledge in the economic development field. The Economic Development Research Program provides networking opportunities, access to exclusive research, and much more. Public Agency (PA)
An organization focused on providing service or benefits to the public. For example; state or local governmental agencies or a political subdivision thereof. The Public Agency membership level is based on the population the agency serves.
Utility (UT)
An organization which maintains and provides services using infrastructure. The membership level for this is based on the Annual Economic Development Budget, or the organization.
Non Profit (NP)
A tax-exempt organization formed for charitable, artistic, religious, scientific, or educational purposes. The nonprofit membership level is based on the annual operating budget of the organization.
Consultants (CN)
An organization or person who provides outside professional advice and opinions.
Private (PRI)
An organization with the intention of making a profit.
Institution (INS)
An organization focused on providing education.
Additional Member (SA)
Any additional members requested to be added to an organization’s membership, which has reached its maximum number of members covered by annual dues. A fee of $200 is added to each additional member.
Student (STU)
Individuals currently, enrolled full-time at a college or university pursuing an undergrad, graduate, or doctorate degree.
Member In Transition (MIT)
Members who find themselves actively searching for employment, and/or in between careers.
Retired Member (RM)
Individuals who are no longer pursuing job opportunities in economic development or elsewhere, but are interested in maintaining their membership with IEDC.
