IEDC is proud to introduce the new strategic plan—the most comprehensive and innovative of its kind in our organization’s history. The plan is a testament to an extensive and collaborative effort, gathering insights from more than 900 engaged stakeholders, members, and valued partners over the past year and a half. It sets the stage for an exciting and promising future, charting the organization's trajectory and impact on the field of economic development internationally.

As we enter the implementation phase, IEDC is committed to strengthening its existing pillars and embracing new avenues of growth. We aim to revolutionize economic development with a focus on three primary areas—Impact on the Individual and Organization, Impact on the Profession, and Impact on the Global Community. Guided by our principles, our dedication to our evolution will empower individuals and organizations to thrive, elevate the economic development profession, and foster collaboration and progress in communities around the globe.

IEDC’s strategy concentrates on three priorities with specific goals that help define our operational path over the course of the next five years:

Provide first-class professional development opportunities.

  • Provide opportunities for mentorship, engagement of new members, and development of young professionals.

Drive membership recruitment, retention, and engagement with a sustained and intentional strategy.

  • Update the membership renewal process and membership model.
  • Create greater accessibility to IEDC including through a focus on small, economically distressed, and international stakeholders.
