Beth Bowman
Beth Bowman is a highly regarded Chamber of Commerce executive and economic development professional in Irving, TX, the 13th most populous city in the state and one of the most diverse communities in the nation. She is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, the first 5-Star accredited Chamber in Texas, and President of the Irving Economic Development Partnership (IEDP), an alliance of private and public entities with the mission to retain and recruit local, national and international corporations to the city, located in the epicenter of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Under her leadership, the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber was a finalist for the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives’ (ACCE) 2019 Chamber of the Year.
Bowman leads the Chamber’s 1,900 member- investor business organization representing nearly 200,000 employees. The Chamber’s membership includes Fortune 500 Global Headquarter companies, international corporations, middle-market and small businesses, as well as entrepreneurs and innovators. She is responsible for providing valuable information, services, programming and access to opportunities that help Chamber member-investors realize success and profits. She also advocates for local, state, and national public policies that support a successful environment for the business community. She also testifies at public hearings and serves as an expert resource for the news media.
As President of the IEDP, Bowman works with public officials, real estate professionals, relocation and site selection experts to recruit quality businesses that support the City’s growth and prosperity. As a result of these efforts, Irving-Las Colinas has become known as the “Headquarters of Headquarters” in Texas with seven Fortune 500 and five Fortune 1000 companies that have their global corporate headquarters in the City. In FY 2019, economic development efforts produced 10,626 new or retained jobs, $465 million in capital investment, and brought in more than $14.4 million in additional tax dollars to city and county taxing entities, with over $3.6 million to the City of Irving. The result was a return of 150% on the public’s investment. Since 2015, under Beth’s leadership, she has been responsible for recruiting 28,377 jobs to Irving, over $2 billion in capital investment and brought in $110 million in additional tax dollars to local taxing entities, with over $24 million to the City of Irving.
Bowman is a champion for business industry, the City of Irving, Las Colinas and its citizens, working to improve the quality of life, education and opportunities for all. In 2020, she was appointed by Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins to the Dallas County Small Business Subcommittee to help develop guidelines for the reopening of businesses in the COVID-19 environment. She helped raise $3.2 million for One Irving, a private sector initiative with the goal of increasing test scores in math and science for college-bound and post-secondary students. The program also introduces students to career opportunities in the business world, a special interest for the Chamber executive.
Bowman was named to DCEO magazine’s “500 Most Powerful Business Leaders in Dallas-Fort Worth” in 2018, 2019 and 2020. She is also a recipient of the Dallas Business Journal’s “2016 Women in Business” award honoring North Texas' most influential businesswomen who are making a difference in their workplace, blazing trails for other women and making a positive impact on their communities.
In 2012, she was honored by the Dallas Business Journal as one of the “40 Under 40” most influential business and community leaders. She is also the recipient of the ACCE 2019 “40 Under 40 Award” and a member of the ACCE Board of Directors (2019).
She has mentored young women for the Dallas Business Journal’s “Bizwomen Mentoring Monday.” She is an active advisor to the founders of Women’s Leadership LIVE, a national initiative with mentors, workshops, and programs to promote leadership and entrepreneurship opportunities for women.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce named Bowman to its Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100 (CCC100), an elite group of chamber executives that identifies emerging issues impacting chambers and their members, advises the U.S. Chamber on programs and services for chambers, and provides feedback on policy-related issues.
She served as a judge in 2015 and 2016 for the ACCE “Chamber of the Year” award, the highest honor in the Chamber industry. She is President of the Board of Directors for the North Texas Chamber Executives and serves on the Board and Executive Committee of the North Texas Commission. She also serves on the Board of the Texas Association of Business, one of the most influential business organizations in the state, advocating for public policies.
Bowman is a graduate of Leadership Texas (2014) and Leadership North Texas (2014). Her professional achievements include the Certified Chamber of Commerce Executive (CCE) designation – the highest level attainable by Chamber leaders. She is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute of Organizational Management (IOM) at Loyola Marymount University in California and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Bowman is a highly sought-after advisor by business executives, public officials, and area volunteer organizations. She was Co-Chairwoman of the 2016 TexasFest, a major source of funding for the non-profit Irving Healthcare Foundation that supports critically needed healthcare programs in the greater Irving community. She currently serves on the La Cima Board of Governors and the Salvation Army Irving Advisory Board. She has also volunteered her time and talents for Big Brothers Big Sisters Big Black Tie Ball, Dallas Junior League, Uplift Education, Irving Heritage Society, Brighter Tomorrows (a domestic violence shelter), and the Irving Schools Foundation. She is an ex-officio board member for the Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau and United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce.
A graduate of Baylor University with a BA in Communication and minor in Business, Bowman is a member of the Baylor University Alumni Association and Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae. She and her husband Steven enjoy spending their free time with their children.
