Julie Curtin joined the economic development marketing agency Development Counsellors International (DCI) in 1994, opened DCI’s Denver office in 1998, became a partner in 2002 and was named president of DCI’s Economic Development practice in 2018. Throughout the course of Julie's twenty five years in economic development she has become an influential thinker and innovator in the economic development industry and place making space. In addition to counseling hundreds of communities on strategies to attract investment, Julie is a frequent speaker for cities, regions, states, provinces and the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) on the topics of economic development marketing, talent attraction, social media and public relations.

In 2013 Julie founded and launched The DCI Marketing Summit, the only peer-led annual gathering of senior-level economic development marketing minds in the country to share best and “next” practices in economic development. Attended by roughly 20 of the top minds in the industry each year, the event promotes collaboration, networking and ideation around place marketing at the city, regional, province and state levels.
