Dear IEDC Members, Friends, and Partners,
I couldn’t be more excited to step into the role of Chair of IEDC’s Board of Directors during this incredible centennial year. What an amazing moment for all of us! As we head into 2026, I’m honored to represent our profession and this organization at a time when economic development truly matters more than ever.
This year isn’t just about looking back – it’s about the future. While we celebrate 100 years of impact, we also have the chance to shape the next century of economic development together.
At the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), we are moving boldly ahead with our strategic plan to be the leading voice for economic developers and a trusted source of knowledge and innovation for an ever-changing industry. IEDC must be at the forefront of helping practitioners meet momentous challenges by providing timely insight, actionable tools, bold leadership, and continuing to be an undisputed leader in professional development. This last point has been pivotal to my career, and I have a deep interest in IEDC continuing this work to ensure the next generation of leaders can grow into this field and continue to drive economic prosperity for communities across the globe.
Our centennial year gives us a unique opportunity to elevate IEDC’s brand, expand our reach, and reinforce our role as the gold standard for professional development. We’ll focus on creating new ways for members to engage, enhancing our educational opportunities and leveraging technology to make your experience even better.
I’m excited to work alongside you to advance our mission and vision – making a real difference for individuals, organizations, and communities everywhere. Together, we can share ideas, spark innovation, and build stronger regions across the globe.
I personally invite you to get involved or more involved in IEDC. We will be reaching out with more information about how you can engage and celebrate, not just the past 100 years, but the next 100 years for economic development. For starters, please be sure to register for our Leadership Summit in Washington, DC, March 1-3, and our Annual Conference, where we will officially celebrate the 100-year anniversary in New Orleans, LA, October 25-28. I hope to see you there!
It’s a privilege to serve as your Chair during this historic year. Let’s celebrate our legacy, embrace change, and lead the way for the future of economic development. Here’s to an inspiring year ahead!
