Public Sector Champion Award

Description

This award celebrates an appointed or elected state or local official who has demonstrated unwavering commitment to economic development through service in the public sector. The recipient must have actively advocated for policies, programs, and initiatives that foster economic growth, job creation, or community development, making a significant and lasting impact on their state or community.

Eligibility

The nominee:

  • Must have at least 10 years of service as an appointed or elected official at the state or local level.
  • Must have consistently advocated for policies, programs, or initiatives that support economic growth, job creation, or community development.
  • Should have demonstrated leadership in advancing economic development goals at the local, regional, or state level, with measurable positive outcomes for their community or region.
  • Should have promoted and implemented best practices in economic development within their jurisdiction.
  • Should show sustained commitment to shaping the economic landscape and creating long-lasting positive change in their area.

  You must submit a response (250 words or less) for each question in order to complete the second part of the application.
  1. Can you summarize your public sector career, highlighting your role(s) as an elected or appointed official and key milestones or achievements related to economic development?

  2. What policies, programs, or initiatives have you championed that have significantly impacted economic growth, job creation, or community development in your region?

  3. Can you provide examples of your leadership in advancing economic development and how your efforts have positively influenced the economic landscape of your community or state?

  4. How have you advocated for or implemented best practices in economic development, and what measurable results have come from these efforts?

  5. What is the long-term impact of your work on economic development, and how has it shaped the future of your region’s or state’s economy?

  6. How have you worked with other officials, stakeholders, or organizations to achieve shared economic development goals?

  7. What steps have you taken to continuously develop as a leader in the public sector, particularly in economic development?
