Category 8 – Innovation in Economic Development Week (EDW)

Description

Any promotional effort raising awareness of the economic development field and/or profession within a community.

Eligibility

To be eligible, the effort must have been implemented during last year’s EDW (May 6-10, 2024).

Application & Judging Criteria

The application for this award consists of three parts, which are scored based on the judging criteria listed below. 


Part I
General Data

 
 You must submit the following details about your organization and the project as the first part of the application.
  • Organization - Name
  • Organization - Key Contact
  • Organization - City, State/Province, Country
  • Organization - Logo
  • Organization - Facebook and/or LinkedIn
  • Organization - Population Size Served
  • Project - Name
  • Project - Begin Date
  • Project - End Date (if applicable)
  • Project - Budget (excluding personnel)
  • Project - Website
  • Project - Population Size Impacted


Part II
Questions

 
 You must submit a response (250 words or less) for each question in order to complete the second part of the application.
  1. Provide a brief description of the project. What is the goal or purpose of this project and how did you accomplish it?
  2. Who are the participants in this project? Describe the roles and relationships of everyone involved in the project.
  3. What is the impact of the project? How effective has it been in furthering economic development in your community? Any spin-off or intangible outcomes? Include metrics when possible.
  4. What was creative or innovative about this project?
  5. What obstacles/barriers did you encounter with this project? How did you overcome them? Did you face any community opposition with this project? If so, how did you address these concerns?
  6. Can this project be adapted for use in other communities or were there unique circumstances specific to your community?
  7. Why do you consider this project worthy of an award?
  8. Are there any other relevant details not covered above or specific to your category?


Part III
Digital Supporting Documentation

 You must submit applicable documentation of the effort as the third part of your application.


Judging Criteria

 Your application will be reviewed by a panel of judges using the following criteria.

  • Achievement of the project's overall goal or purpose
  • Inclusion of and collaboration with relevant partners and stakeholders in the community
  • Overall value or contribution to furthering economic development
  • Creative or innovative approach
  • Relevance, transferability, and scalability to other communities
  • Effectiveness of the project in terms of emotional response, audience takeaway, and/or call-to-action
  • Digital supporting documentation provided as requested
