Description
Honorary Life Member (HLM) status is awarded to active or former IEDC members who have made significant contributions to the field of economic development and have inspired or educated others in the profession across various communities.
Meeting the qualifications listed below does not guarantee that a candidate will be honored as an Honorary Life Member (HLM); these qualifications represent the minimum criteria for consideration.
Eligibility
The nominee must have:
- Earned Fellow Member (FM) recognition for exceptional contributions to the profession.
- At least 10 years of continuous membership in IEDC.
- A minimum of 20 years in the economic development field.
- Demonstrated significant achievements that have advanced the field of economic development.
- Been recognized as a mentor or source of inspiration to others in the profession.

The application for this status consists of three parts as listed below.

You must submit a response (250 words or less) for each question in order to complete the second part of the application.

Have you attained Fellow Member (FM) status? Provide the year and details of your recognition.

How many years have you been an active or former, continuous member of IEDC? Describe your involvement in IEDC activities or leadership roles during this time.

Summarize your professional experience in economic development. Highlight specific roles, accomplishments, and their impact on the profession.

What significant achievements have you made that advanced the field of economic development? Provide examples of initiatives, programs, or innovations you have led or contributed to.

How have you served as a mentor or source of inspiration to others in economic development? Share specific examples of mentoring, teaching, or influencing the growth of colleagues or communities.
